“What are the Rules of Badminton?”

The common racket sport of badminton is played using tennis balls and a shuttlecock, sometimes known as a "birdie." The following are the basic rules of badminton:

1. Court:

A net divides the rectangular court on which badminton is played. For singles matches, the court is 13.4 meters long by 6.1 meters wide; for doubles matches, it measures 13.4 meters long by 5.18 meters broad. The net sits in the middle and stands 1.524 meters tall in the center and 1.55 meters high outside.

2. Serving:

The serve must be delivered diagonally across the court, below the server's waist, to the opposition's service box. Until the shuttle is served, the server must wait in the service court.

3. Scoring:

Badminton only allows the serving side to score points. The serving team scores a point if they win a rally, and the same server keeps serving. A rally won by the receiving side earns them the chance to serve, and no points are given.

4. Faults:

Several faults during play may cost you a rally or a point. Common mistakes include hitting the shuttle outside the lines, failing to clear the net, hitting the shuttle twice, contacting the net with the body or the racquet, hindering the opponent's strokes, and more.

5. Doubles Play:

In doubles matches, there are two players on each team. The receiving team chooses who receives the serve, while the serving team chooses which player serves. The serving team alternates players until they lose a rally, at which point they transfer sides again.

6. Change of Ends:

Players' switch ends after the first game. Players switch sides once one team scores a certain amount of points (often 11) in future games.

The rules for out-of-bounds shots, player conduct, tournament requirements, and more are more specific. For complete information, referring to the official rules and regulations issued by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) or the governing organization in your specific region is always a good idea.

Benefits of playing Badminton:

Playing badminton has several advantages for your physical and emotional health. Firstly, badminton is a constantly moving and quick, exciting, lively sport. The game's brisk speed aids in increasing stamina overall, heart rate, and endurance. Because badminton players continually work their upper body, core, and leg muscles while playing, regular practice sessions can develop their strength and flexibility.

Second, badminton is a great activity for calorie burning and weight control. A strong game of badminton can burn many calories, making it a useful exercise for achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight. In addition, badminton's constant movement and demand for rapid responses might aid coordination and balance.

In addition, playing badminton with friends, family, or a team is a social activity. Participating in frequent badminton matches offers a chance to build relationships with people, hone teamwork abilities, and build social ties. The activity creates teamwork, friendly rivalry, and a sense of connection.
